61 (Early Series) Posy ring.
Does this shape appear in other series? Yes, although not exactly the same -
Later Series 163 and
'A' Series / Kerryl A111 are similar but slightly smaller and this
61 posy ring has a more rounded shape to its sides. Further on in the Early Series however another posy ring appeared that is very similar to
61,
Early Series 424. 61 and 424 are both rare; only a single example is recorded of each. It was not until the post-war years, the Later Series period, that posy rings became a popular item.
Dimensions; height 4.5 - 5 cm, diam 16.5 - 17.5 cm.
Collection; 'W'
Base incised Remued 61.
This is the only numbered example recorded.
Un-numbered, unsigned, Remued sticker.
Height 7cm, diameter 16 cm.
Quite a different profile shape, but given its proximity in the numbering series to
Early Series 60 which is a half-ring of similar profile, it is tempting to speculate that it may be an earlier version of Early Series
61. This is the only recorded example.
