57  (Early Series)    TWO SHAPES
: This is one of those Early Series numbers that was assigned twice, first to a PPP shape, and then some time after PPP was discontinued in 1934, to a Remued shape.The two shapes here are somewhat similar.

A numbered example is reported with gumleaf decoration, base incised Remued 57/M. No picture.

The sketch could represent either of these two shapes. It is perhaps more like the Remued version below. However it comes from a shape book for which nearly all known examples are found with PPP markings.

Does this shape appear in other series?   No - (none recorded). It is, however, almost identical to another Early Series shape,  Early Series 77

A shape-book entry shows two sizes, suffixed s and L, but recorded examples are numbered just 57 and correspond to the smaller size.
