118 (Early Series; PPP and Remued) Jugs, bulbous base with long flaring neck.
:
Does this shape appear in other series? Yes -
Later Series 146. There are also older un-numbered pieces that pre-date numbering. This is a shape that continued on as Remued after the PPP name was discontinued in 1934.
Three sizes are recorded, plain 118 and with inch suffixes 5 and 8.
Un-numbered. No base markings. Height 10 cm
Either an older
118 example, or possibly
Early Series 183 which is similar.
Note the early glaze and style of handle; also the broad spout which is characteristic of many early pieces. Presumably it dates from 1933-34 before numbering was introduced.

Base inscriptions like this one - with a shape-number and a date - are extremely rare, and of great value in piecing together the history of the Remued range. If you have any piece with such an inscription we'd be delighted to hear from you!
Incised 118, stamped PPP.
The only recorded PPP example.
118/5 & /5M pieces have horizontal ridge-and-groove decoration. The shape-book entry below specifies 'rings'.
The white example provides a foretaste of what was to become a common finish on Later Series pieces in the mid-1950s.
