This jug was a wedding gift in 1940, so presumably produced no earlier than about 1939.
8  (Early Series) (?)   Wide cylinder vase, ribbed.

Does this shape appear in other series?   Not in other series, but it appears in the Early Series as Early Series 231.

Height;  not recorded but presumably 11 - 12 cm (like Early Series 231).
This is the only recorded example to date. The number 8 seems anomalous. The usual Early Series number for this shape is 231.

The explanation for such anomalous numbering is unknown. Perhaps it's just a mistake (mistakes did happen - see here) but it may be significant that a similar situation is seen with Early Series 34 and  5.

Base incised 8. The number is clear and unmistakable.
8  (Early Series)   TWO SHAPES (?)

Two shapes are recorded with the number 8. One of them could possibly be a mistake.
